a week agoWe did our taxes with them for quite a few years. But they recently had some retirements and change in personnel and have changed drastically. Unlike every other year, this year they did not send us a packet at the beginning of the year that we used to get our taxes together. I had to call to prompt them for such. We turned our materials into them the second week of March. By early April, we had heard nothing about our taxes so I called and they informed me that they had some staffing issues with their CPA(s) so that there was a delay in getting taxes filed. We were completely unaware of this when we gave them our documents, and at that point it was too late to try to get them back so that someone else could get our taxes done on time. Our taxes ended up not being filed until June. Later we got a CP14 from the IRS indicating that we owed a penalty for our taxes being filed late. Since the late filing was not our fault at all, I emailed LPC to inquire about getting reimbursed for the penalty. I emailed them twice and they never responded. We were also given an invoice with a filing charge that was 5x (!) higher than what we had paid the year before, even though our taxes were nearly the same. I also asked why and never got a response. In summary, we were charged 5x as much for service that resulted in our taxes being filed two months late. When I took issue with this they ignored me. I will not be doing business with them again.

a month agoMy experience with this firm left serious concerns. Lindley Pettigrew & Co. seemed more focused on helping clients structure around overtime laws than following them. I watched them support operations that used illegal pesticide aerosolization methods and retaliated when whistleblowers spoke up. If you’re looking for ethical guidance and legal compliance, I strongly recommend finding a CPA that respects both tax code and labor law. Agencies are already aware—let’s hope they start holding firms like this accountable.
