I have rarely had a less professional experience. One of my classmates from the MIT Sloan School recommended an accountant at Adeptus in May 2025. I reached out to her and received a response from someone else at the firm, saying that the person I’d been recommended had left Adeptus, but offering to help us out. I had a few interactions. All seemed good and we told them we’d be using them to prepare our taxes for 2025. I sent in all our information on March 23rd, and received confirmation that it had been received. A week later, I checked in to see when we might see our return and was told that it was “in review” and we’d get it shortly. An April Fools joke? I noodged another time, with no response, and realized on April 5th that I’d forgotten to include a deduction, so sent it along and asked for an update. Five days later (April 10th), I’d still seen no return, but after leaving several voicemails I got a callback from a partner who confirmed everything was under control and I’d get a draft return shortly. Twelve hours later I got an email with the partner’s contact info, but nothing else. I finally received a draft return on the afternoon of April 14th, more than three weeks after sending very organized and detailed information and less than 36 hours from the filing deadline. Many of the financial elements of it were wrong, including the absence of the specific deduction I’d discussed with the partner and (presumably?) a typo that showed our estimated payments as $800 less than the actual amount. Of course, I was upset and immediately called Kirti Patell, the Senior Manager with whom we’d been working. I STILL have not gotten a callback! But I did just get a bill. So I pulled an all-nighter and (thank you TurboTax and your great staff!), completed our return in time to file within the deadline. Our tax liability was less than half what Adeptus said, saving us thousands of dollars. Please save yourselves money and aggravation and avoid this company. AI is coming for accountants; in this case it would have been a lot faster, and possibly more accurate.

Avoid this company. They messed up my 2022 taxes and when the IRS hassled me for years, they mislead me into thinking they were resolving it. Turns out they sent my payment to another account and the IRS never received my tax payment. After years of leading me on to believe they were resolving it, they ghost me without any response or resolution. So now my money was taken out of my account and sent somewhere and they will not respond to which account nor aid me in retrieving it back. They have not answered my phone calls or called me back in over 2 years. Lastly, they will upsell you on a C-Corp LLC. structure that is not advantageous for your taxes and acting loose with how to report your earnings and costs.

My family and I use Adeptus every year for our taxes and couldn’t be happier.
